Millard F. Howell was born November 24, 1912, in Hartford, Alabama. "Dixie" was a triple threat All- Southeastern Conference at the University of Alabama in 1933 and ‘34. He was named All-American in 1934 and was the outstanding player in the 1935 Rose Bowl. He set an SEC record for the longest punt-89 yards against Tennessee in 1933. In the 1935 Rose Bowl, "Dixie" led an attack that scored more in 13 minutes than Stanford's previous 9 opponents had scored in 9 games. He is deceased.
