Robert Thomas Jenkins was born August 16, 1923, at Talladega, Alabama, where he was All-State and All- Southern in high school football. He was known as Bobby Tom Jenkins to Crimson Tide fans from 1939 to 1942. In 1943 he went to the U.S. Naval Academy, and the next year he was selected as All-American in the same backfield with Blanchard and Davis of Army. In 1945 football stopped for "Trigger Tom" because of a knee injury. He retired from the Navy in 1950 and since then he's been a successful businessman and civic leader in Birmingham. He passed away in 2001.
