Ivy Paul Andrews was born at Dora, Alabama, on May 6, 1907. He signed a baseball contract in 1929 and was brought up in 1931 to be with the New York Yankees when they ruled the baseball world with the likes of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Bill Dickey, and Lefty Gomez. He also played for Boston, St. Louis, and Cleveland,. He was thought by the experts to have the best curve ball in the business. His last year in pro baseball was 1947 with the Birmingham Barons as pitching coach. He passed away on November 24, 1970.
