James E. Glover was born in Moundville, Alabama, on April 30, 1916. He went to East Mississippi Junior College and Delta State Teachers College as a halfback. "Gentleman Jim" coached at Brookwood High in 1940-41 before going in the U.S. Navy for 3 years. He coached at Jefferson County High in 1945-46. He settled into coaching at Etowah County High in 1947 and after 31 years, retired in 1978. He had compiled 214 wins; 73 of his players played college football and 36 of those became coaches. He is deceased.
