Birthplace: Phenix City, AL

Played collegiately at the University of Alabama.  He was named to the Kodak All-American Team in 1982.  Selected to Alabama’s Team of the Decade for the 80’s.   All-SEC in ‘81 and ‘82.  Presently tied for second in career interceptions at Alabama with 16.  Awarded the Bobby Johns Most Improved Defensive Back Award in ’80.  He was named MVP of ‘82 Liberty Bowl, which was Coach Bryant’s final game.  Selected as a member of the to Alabama’s All-Century Defensive Team.  Drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1983 and played for five seasons and then was traded to the Denver Broncos and played two seasons.  NFL Films awarded him the Defensive Play of the Year in the AFC Championship Game vs. the Cleveland Browns in ‘87.  Played in Super Bowls XXI and XXII and had one interception in XXII.
