Born: 12/29/1940 Birthplace: Anniston, Alabama
Played collegiately at Jacksonville State University (JSU) and became the head coach at JSU in 1970. He won back-to-back National Championships (Division II) in 1990 & ’91. For his efforts he was named NCAA Division II Coach of the Year both years. During his tenure at JSU he was seven times named NCAA Regional Coach of the Year. His teams won five Gulf South Conference titles and 11 Gulf South Conference Division titles. He guided JSU to seven NCAA Division II World Series. He retired after the 2001 season, 32 years as head coach; his record was 1003-467 (at that time he became the 29th coach in NCAA history to reach 1,000 wins). He was elected to the Jacksonville State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.
