Born December 9, 1943 in Sparta, N.C.   He played collegiately at the University of Alabama .  He was named All-SEC at tackle in 1966.  Gained wide recognition catching passes in Coach Bryant’s famous tackle eligible play.  He played on two consecutive national championship teams and three consecutive SEC Championship teams.  He was also a member of the ’66 team that went undefeated and untied.  He played in two Orange Bowls and one Sugar Bowl.  He served as a graduate assistant coach while perusing his Masters Degree at Alabama .  For twenty four years he was the sideline reporter for the University of Alabama Radio Network .
