Born October 11, 1945 in Montgomery, AL . He led Troy State to the NAIA National Championship in 1968.  That same season he led the National Association of Inter-Collegiate Athletics in passing yards (3,042), completed 221 of 350 passes for 30 touchdowns and a completion percentage of .643.  He also led the nation in punting average with a 45.4 yards per punt.  He was a consensus first team All-American in his division.  For his career he threw for 7,092 yards, completing 536 of 860 passes for a pass completion percentage of .623 and threw for 68 touchdowns.  He was named captain of the 1967 and 1986 squads and was selected Most Valuable Player of both the semi-final and Championship games in ’68.  During the championship game against Texas A & I he set records for the most touchdowns passes (five), passes attempted (44), passes completed (27) and passing yards (334) in a championship game.  At one time he held 18 Troy passing and total offensive records.  He also handled the punting duties and in 1968 his 44.3 yards per punt average was a Troy record.  He was the first Troy football player to participate in the Blue Grey All Star Classic.  In 2005 he was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.  He played one year in the CFL with the British Columbia Lions.  He presently President of Republic National Distributing Co.
