Born March 31, 1962 in Birmingham, AL .He was a two time All-State selection and three-year starter at Woodlawn H.S.He played collegiately at Auburn University .He was Auburn ís leading tackler as a sophomore and junior and the second leading tackler as a senior.He finished his career at Auburn with nine sacks and 289 solo tackles. ††He was a three-time All-SEC selection and a four time Academic All-SEC selection.He was the SECís most honored athlete in 1984.In 1984 he was SEC Lineman of the Year and was named the Birmingham Monday Morning Quarterback Club Most Valuable SEC Lineman.As a senior, he was named to the Academic All-American Team, National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete and one of the NCAAís Top Five Student Athletes. He was also named as a permanent team captain for the Tigers.In the Spring of 1985, he received the Cliff-Hare Award (Outstanding Auburn Athlete) and the Shug Jordan Award (Outstanding Senior Football Player).In 1985 he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL and played four seasons.He retired from the NFL to pursue a medical degree.He currently is an orthopedic surgeon in Birmingham .
