Al DelGreco was born March 2, 1962 in Providence, RI. He was the first placekicker to be given a football scholarship at Auburn. He converted 110 of 111 extra point kicks for his college career and finished second in career scoring (236 points). He set the record for most points scored by a kicker in a game (18 against Kentucky, 1982) and the record for most points scored by a kicker in a career (236). He is the SEC record holder and is tied for the NCAA record for most field goals made in a game with six against Kentucky in 1982. DelGreco also holds the record for most field goals attempted in a career (69). He went on to play 17 years in the NFL with four teams - Packers, Cardinals, Oilers and Titans -† where he set the NFL record for best field goal percentage during the 1990s. He converted more than 80 percent of his field goal attempts and finished his career ranked seventh on the NFL career scoring list with 1,584 points. He scored 100 or more points in six consecutive seasons and eight seasons overall. DelGreco set the Tennessee Titans record for career PATs (322) and holds 24 Titan records overall. He connected on an AFC record-tying 36 of 39 field goal attempts and converted all 28 PATs during the 1998 season. He played in the Super Bowl with the Titans in 2000. An excellent golfer, he has won five Cadillac NFL Golf Classics and became the head golf coach and assistant football coach at Spain Park High Scool in Hoover after retiring from the NFL.
