Born July 31, 1962 in Schenectady, New York. Played collegiately at Auburn. Drafted in 1985 by the Los Angels Rams in the fifth round. Was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1989, ‘94, ‘95, ‘96, & ‘98. In ‘96 he was named the NFC Linebacker of Year and received the prestigious George Halas Defensive Player of Year award. Finished his career as the all time NFL sack leader for linebackers and ranked third overall in career sacks with 160. Recorded 40 games with two or more sacks, ranking second all-time. Set a NFL record with five consecutive multi-sack games. He is one of three players to lead the NFL in sacks in multiple seasons (1994 with the Pittsburgh Steelers (14) and in ‘96 with the Carolina Panthers (14.5)). He is one of only three players in the NFL to have ten sacks per season for ten years. Tied for second among all players in sacks for the decade of the 90’s (113.5 sacks). Was the ninth player since the sack became official in 1982 to record 100 or more career sacks. Ranked third all time in fumble recoveries (26). Played in Super Bowl XXX with Pittsburgh.
