Born February 1, 1941 in Lanett, AL.  He was an All State lineman in high school and Player of the Year in Class 2A as a senior.  Was also an outstanding basketball player and had the opportunity to play college ball in the SEC.  However he signed a football scholarship at Auburn University where he became a mainstay in their offensive line.  He was named to the Team of the Decade for the 60ís.  Blessed with size (6í5Ē, 260 lbs.), speed and agility, he was drafted in the 4th round in 1963 by the Kansas City Chiefs and for 13 seasons was a solid performer in their offensive line.  Considered an outstanding pass blocker, he played in two Super Bowls (I and III).  In their Super Bowl victory over the Minnesota Vikings in 1970 he had an outstanding game as their starting right tackle.
