Born May 29, 1903 in Eltham, London, England, his parents moved to Cleveland,Ohio when he was four years old. He was a comedian and actor who appeared in vaudeville, on Broadway, and in radio, television and movies. He was also noted for his work with the US Armed Forces and his numerous USO shows entertaining American military personnel He is the Country’s most loved ambassador of Good Will throughout the world. Bob Hope’s contributions to humanitarian causes are immensurable. Despite his unbelievable schedule, he found time to give an average of two days a week for benefit performances. Hope was an avid golfer, and used his passion to raise literally millions of dollars for charity. Since 1965 the Bob Hope Desert Classic has raised for its major recipient, the Eisenhower Medical Center, an amount in excess of ten million dollars. For fifteen years he served as honorary chairman of the Charlie Boswell celebrity golf classic benefitting the Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham. Mr. Hope died July 27, 2003.
