Born January 22, 1945 in Cresco, Iowa, from 1967 to 1969, Bronner was an instructor in the School of Business and Finance at Mankato State. Dr. Bronner earned two degrees from the University of Alabama: a law degree in 1971 and a PhD in 1972. In 1973 he became Chief Executive Officer of the Retirement Systems of Alabama, responsible for protecting and investing in the 500 million dollars in the fund. Under his outstanding leadership and exceptional investing ability this fund has grown to a staggering 13 plus billion dollars. In 1990, he embarked on a pioneering golf project for Alabama, Sunbelt Golf, funded by the R.S.A., was created and plans were made to have a trail of golf courses from Huntsville to Mobile. Seven sites were selected and noted golf course architect Robert Trent Jones was chose to design the holes. The Sunbelt Golf project has thrust the State of Alabama among the headers in golf facilities and has made a significant contribution to the economy of the State.
