Frank House was born February 18, 1930, in Bessemer, Alabama. At age 18, after an outstanding prep career, "Pig" signed a baseball contract with the Detroit Tigers as a catcher for the largest bonus ever paid at that time (1948). He played with the Tigers from 1950 until 1958, was with the Kansas City Athletics in 1958 and 1959, the Cincinnati Reds in 1960, and the Baltimore Orioles and Detroit in 1961. His lifetime batting average was .252. "Pig" was instrumental in promoting and establishing the ASHOF. He died March 13, 2005.
