Elbert S. Jemison, Jr. was born October 27, 1920, Birmingham, Alabama. One of the most celebrated golfers in Alabama history. His amateur competitive career spans over fifty years. Scholastic golf at Sewanee Military Academy 1938-40; University of Virginia 1940-41; University of Alabama 1946-47. Twice winner back to back of both Alabama Amateur 1957-58, and Alabama Senior Amateur 1976-77 championships. Winner of over fifty tournaments. Nationally known golf administrator. Past president of Birmingham Golf, Alabama Golf, Southern Golf, and Alabama Seniors Golf Associations. Former Officer U.S. Golf Association. Numerous Awards for service to Golf. Captain, infantry, WWII, Europe. Awarded Combat Infantryman Badge, and Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. Birmingham businessman.
