Hank Johnson was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 5, 1941. Played golf collegiately at Auburn. Finished second in the SEC Golf Championship in 1962. Played on the PGA Tour for two years…As a teaching professional he has enjoyed an outstanding career. He has been named one of the top 100 golf instructors in the country. In 1975 he was named to the Golf Digest Advisory staff, where he authored many articles and has appeared on their cover seven times. He has been a multiple winner of the Dixie Section PGA Horton Smith Award 1978, ’80, ’82, and ’83 (for outstanding contributions to golf education), and has won numerous awards such as: Top Teacher of the Year-Travel South Magazine (1989). He was named Professional of the Year by the Alabama Golf Association in 1984, Professional of the Year by the Dixie PGA in 1985, Dixie Sectional PGA Teacher of the Year ’97, and a Finalist for the National PGA Teacher of the Year ’98. He has authored a book entitled How to Win the Three Games of Golf.
