Larry D. Striplin, Jr.
born: in Selma, AL
Born November 11, 1929 in Selma,Alabama. He attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, for two years and graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a B.S. Degree in Education. He further pursued his education at George Peabody College (now Vanderbilt) in Nashville,Tennessee, where he obtained his M.A. Degree in Education. Mr. Striplin established American Fine Wire, one of Selma's largest employers. He was instrumental in establishing the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame for which he served as a board member for twenty-three years, thirteen of those as Chairman. He also established and served as Chairman of the Bryant-Jordan Student Athlete Foundation. He is a Trustee of Birmingham-Southern College and The University of South Alabama. Mr. Striplin continues to serve on numerous civic and philanthropic boards.
