Andrew Toney played collegiately at Southwestern Louisiana (now Louisiana-Lafayette). He was drafted eighth overall in 1980 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers where he played eight seasons. He was named to the NBA All-Star team in 1982 and 1983. In the 1982 Eastern Conference Finals, he scored 30 points in Game 2, 39 points in Game 4, and 34 points in Game 7; averaging 26.4 points per game for the series. He helped lead the 76ers to the NBA Championship in the 1982-1983 season, defeating the L.A. Lakers. He ranked second in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage in 1981-82 and sixth in 1984-85. For his career he had 7,458 points and averaged 15.9 a game.
