Del Pratt moved to Pell City, AL with his family in 1902. He played football at the University of Alabama between 1907 and 1910 where he was a running and drop-kicking star. He started his pro baseball career in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and made his MLB debut in 1912 with the St. Louis Browns. In 1916, he led the American League with 103 RBIs. He went to the New York Yankees in 1918, Boston in 1921 and Detroit in 1923. Over his 13-year career, he had a total of 979 RBIs and 857 runs scored. Pratt is known as the first big league star who graduated from the University of Alabama.
