Domnanovich was a three-year starter at the University of Alabama. During that period, the Tide went 24-7. An All-American center, outstanding two-way player, and captain of the 1942 Orange Bowl winners. He played six years of professional football with the Boston Yanks (1946-1948), New York Bulldogs (1949) and the New York Yanks (1950-1951). He was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 1989.
